Surface area of a sphere

The surface area of a sphere is the area of the surface that encloses the ball. Another name for the surface of a ball is a “sphere”. For a sphere with radius r, we usually write the surface area as A and work it out as

A=4⋅π⋅r2

For example, a sphere with radius r = 4 has surface area

A=4⋅π⋅42=4⋅π⋅16=64π≈200.96
