Volume of a sphere

The volume of a sphere is the amount of space the sphere takes up. Put simply, it is how many litres of water you can pour into the sphere. For a sphere with radius r, the volume, which we usually write as V (for “volume”), is

V=43⋅π⋅r3

Imagine a sphere with radius r = 4. We would work out its volume like this:

V=43⋅π⋅43=43⋅π⋅64=256⋅π3
